Alexander Mcqueen was born on the march 17th, 1969 in London. He was the youngest of six children. At the age of 16 he left school and was offers an apprenticeship at the traditional Saville Row Tailors Anderson and Sheppard and afterwards at the neighbouring Gieves and Hawkes.Both in the technical construction of clothing. afterwards, he went in theatrical costume design, where he learned and mastered 6 method of pattern cutting. All from the melodramatic 16th century to the razor sharp tailoring which became the Mcqueen signature.At the age of 20, he worked with Koji Tatsuno and a year later he moved to Milan as the assistant in design for Romeo Gigli. He finished his Masters degree in Fashion and showed his MA collection in 1992. Is shows are filled with emotional power and raw energy with a romantic and contemporary nature. the Mcqueen culture is about juxtaposition of contrasting element: Fragility and strength, tradition and modernity. fluidity and severity. His viewpoint of fashion is very profound and passionate about the craft and art.Alexander Mcqueen combined the workmanship of French haute couture with the impeccable finish of Italian manufacturing. Alexander Mcqueen is one of the most respected fashion designer in the industry and he has achieve in under 10 year in the business. In October 1996, he was the chief designer of the French haute couture house Givenchy, he worked there until march 2001. in 2000, 51% of Alexander Mcqueen was bought by Gucci group, but he remained the creative director. His collectionS include women and men ready-to-wear, accessories, eye wares and fragranceS. He then opened stores across the world New York, Milan, Paris...He won numerous fashion award including the British designer of the years in 1996,1997,2001and 2003. Sadly. he committed suicide at the age of 40 on the 11 February of 2010.
